Charlie and Laura’s proposal film
Film by Tuan Nguyen Films · Planning and production by Kiss Me in Paris · 0:55
The evening on the Seine
Charlie had given Laura a reason to dress for dinner and arrive at the quay on time: his brother was hosting a private Seine cruise. A hostess welcomed them as the first guests and offered a tour, leading them below while ten relatives waited on another deck. For other ways to plan around the view, see our Eiffel Tower proposal guide.
Guitar and violin were playing “La Vie en Rose” as Charlie led Laura upstairs. Roses filled the deck, with the Eiffel Tower rising behind them. The yacht was still at its mooring. Charlie knelt and asked her to marry him. She said yes.
Then came the second surprise. At Charlie’s signal, both mothers appeared first, followed by the rest of the two families. The music changed to “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and the deck became a family celebration.

The Challenge
Eleven of the twelve people on that yacht knew what was coming. The production had to keep ten relatives invisible, hold the Eiffel Tower in one fixed position for the proposal, then turn the same vessel into a private dinner and dance celebration.
Ten people hidden on board
Both families had traveled for an evening they could not discuss with Laura. They needed their own arrival time, boarding route, waiting deck, and communication plan.

A dinner invitation that made sense
A formal dinner cruise hosted by Charlie’s brother explained the dress code, the fixed arrival time, and why a private vessel was waiting at a quiet dock.

The yacht stayed moored
The proposal was the one part of the evening that could not be repeated. Keeping the yacht tied to the dock fixed the Eiffel Tower behind Charlie and gave the musicians, photography, and film a stable deck.

Twelve people, one schedule
After the reveal came photographs, champagne, dinner for twelve, dancing, the return to the mooring for the sparkle, a carriage at the quay, and flowers moving on to the couple’s hotel.
How we planned the evening
01 · Separate arrivals, one invitation
The families boarded before Charlie and Laura and waited on a separate deck. The dinner invitation gave the couple a reason to arrive on time and dress for the evening. Once they were aboard, the hostess’s tour took them past the dining room while keeping the waiting families out of sight.
02 · The Eiffel Tower stayed behind them
The yacht remained at its mooring for the proposal. Charlie and Laura had a still deck beneath their feet and the Eiffel Tower behind them. The musicians, photographer and filmmaker worked around that position before the cruise began.
03 · A signal for both families
Charlie gave the go-ahead after the proposal. Both mothers stepped out together, followed by the fathers, siblings and partners. The couple had their question and answer to themselves before sharing the celebration.
04 · Dinner, dancing and a carriage waiting ashore
Once everyone was together, the yacht left the dock. Dinner for twelve was served at a long table dressed with a cascading floral runner; later, the upper decks became the dance floor. The yacht returned for the Eiffel Tower’s evening sparkle. A horse-drawn carriage waited ashore, while the flowers went on to the couple’s hotel.

The Result
Laura arrived believing she was early for someone else’s dinner cruise. She left in a horse-drawn carriage after celebrating with both families.
Charlie and Laura had the flower-filled deck to themselves for the proposal. After the yes, the yacht filled with both families, dinner and dancing.
They danced at the front of the boat, her fuchsia gown sweeping the deck.
The proposal florals had one more job. While the couple rode through Paris in the carriage, the flowers were moved to their hotel so part of the yacht setting was waiting there for the first night engaged.
Why a full private yacht?
Privately chartered for twelve, Le Signac gave Charlie and Laura two reception decks, terraces, dinner service, live musicians and substantial florals. It also gave both families somewhere to wait until Charlie was ready for them to appear.
The vessel also gave us control over the part that mattered most: who was aboard, when the yacht moved, and where the Eiffel Tower stood when Charlie asked.
After the yes, the same yacht became the family’s dinner venue and dance floor. No transfer was needed until the celebration was over. Vahe and Christina brought the river into their evening differently. After their proposal on The Peninsula’s terrace, they joined their family for a private cruise. Questions We Hear First
Can family join a private yacht proposal without revealing the surprise?
Yes. For Charlie and Laura, ten relatives boarded first and waited out of sight on a separate deck. The two mothers appeared first after the proposal. We choose a yacht with room for your guests and plan their arrival with the crew.
Why did Charlie propose while the yacht was moored?
The yacht stayed at Port Debilly for the proposal, keeping the Eiffel Tower in a fixed position behind the couple. That gave the musicians, photographer, and filmmaker a clear sequence to work with before the cruise began. The best arrangement for another date depends on the vessel, berth, and operator’s approval.
Can dinner and the celebration happen on the same yacht?
Yes, on a charter equipped and booked for it. Charlie and Laura celebrated with dinner for twelve, then dancing on board. The yacht returned to its mooring for the Eiffel Tower’s evening sparkle. Guest numbers, catering, sailing hours, and the route need confirming for each booking.
How did you make the yacht arrival feel natural?
Laura believed they were joining a dinner cruise hosted by Charlie’s brother. The invitation explained the evening clothes, meeting point, and boarding time without mentioning a proposal. We plan the story and arrivals together so your partner has a comfortable, believable reason to be there.
What does a private Seine yacht proposal with family cost?
Our prepared private Seine yacht package starts at €7,000. A family evening like Charlie and Laura’s is priced separately for the yacht, charter hours, dinner and guests. Tell us how many people will join you and which flowers, music, photographs or film you want, and we’ll quote the whole evening before you book. Our Paris proposal cost guide explains the wider budget.
