Jeremiah and Heaven at Vaux-le-Vicomte

Heaven came to Vaux-le-Vicomte for her twenty-fourth birthday. Jeremiah had a question to ask, and eight years of shared memories to draw on.

Chantelle Streete, Nadia and the Kiss Me in Paris proposal planning team brought together an evening of live performance, a proposal in the gardens and a birthday dinner inside the château. The details kept returning to the two people at its center.

Arrival at the château

The final “Be My Guest” invitation had named the château. A Rolls-Royce brought Jeremiah and Heaven out of Paris, while inside, the ballerinas made their last preparations. One final adjustment to a pointe shoe, then into position.

A private tour led the couple toward the Grand Salon. The evening was ready to begin.

The Grand Salon begins to change

A violinist and two ballerinas opened the performance. A violin solo followed. For “A Whole New World,” piano and a singer joined four dancers as blue light spread across the walls and ceiling.

Years earlier, at homecoming, Jeremiah and Heaven had leaned toward a kiss during a slow dance. The lights came on before it happened. That unfinished dance was one of the memories we carried into the evening.

Into the gardens

The same four ballerinas accompanied Jeremiah and Heaven out of the salon and toward the gardens. Ahead of them, blue hydrangeas and pink roses framed an illuminated, reflective platform.

They paused together along the aisle and looked up. Above the flowers, the drone show was telling their story.

Their story in the sky

Every anniversary, Jeremiah wrote Heaven a message. This time, we helped him give that message a larger canvas.

Twenty-four appeared for her birthday. “Like Heaven in the Sky?” returned to the question about her name that had started their first conversation. Eight years became an infinity sign; their initials and a heart followed, then a ring box and the question he had brought to France.

We planned the aerial messages to lead into Jeremiah’s own proposal speech. As their LoveBook put it: “The sky could help him ask. The voice had to be his.”

The question and the fireworks

Jeremiah knelt. Heaven said yes. Fireworks rose over the grounds.

Then the ring was on her hand, and they could turn toward the sky together. The homecoming lights had interrupted them. These lights had a different part to play. In the book’s words: “This time, the lights were applause.”

Champagne followed, with time to look at the ring, hold each other and take in what had just happened.

A little time at the château

The flower-lined aisle became a place for portraits after the proposal. Back at the château, they paused beneath the arches and in the rooms inside while the team prepared dinner.

There was time for a few photographs together before the next part of the evening.

Back to the Grand Salon

The Grand Salon had changed again. A table stood beneath a canopy of flowers, with blue linen, candlelight and a live trio: piano, voice and drums. A horse appeared in projection high above them.

Heaven came through the doors with both arms raised. Beside the table, her hand went to her chest. The room that had held the opening performances now held their birthday dinner.

There was time to dance, too. The lighting plan had made room for that homecoming memory: this time, the lights would stay low.

Still her birthday too

Bastien Blanc-Tailleur, named the World’s Most Creative Pastry Chef by La Liste in 2024, created Heaven’s birthday cake and delivered it personally to Chantelle.

They cut it together, fed each other a little, and laughed. The proposal had given the evening another reason to celebrate. Her birthday still had its place.

The next words were theirs

There was still a book waiting to be opened.

Like Heaven in the Sky gathered eight years of Jeremiah and Heaven’s life together, from their first conversation and the kiss that had to wait to shared traditions, travels and the ways they had supported each other. Jeremiah supplied the memories. We turned them into an illustrated book they could keep.

They read it together at the table. There were smiles, then tears. On the final page, the story left room for them.

The chapter was called “The Wish.” Before returning to Paris, they added their own hopes for what would come next.

A message on the way home

Three days later, on the way to the airport, Jeremiah wrote:

“This proposal is something she is going to remember for decades and something we will both look back on years and years from now. You all helped make it more special than I could have ever imagined.”

Heaven recorded a thank-you for the team.

How we produced it in six days

Jeremiah’s initial idea was a proposal overlooking the Eiffel Tower. As we learned more about him and Heaven through our planning questionnaire, it grew into a day of personal discoveries, ending with a celebration at a château. His ideas for music, ballet, drones and fireworks gave us the starting point.

Six days meant choosing people we could trust, making decisions quickly and keeping several parts of the production moving at once. Chantelle, Nadia and the team worked with the château and our creative partners to make room for an ambitious commission on a very short calendar.

The château made room

Vaux-le-Vicomte had events on the two preceding days and an internal event on the evening we needed. Through our relationship with the château team, that gathering moved to another building. The rooms and gardens became available for Jeremiah and Heaven.

The estate gave the evening several settings: the Grand Salon for live performance and dinner, the gardens for the proposal and sky shows, and rooms inside for portraits. Its long garden axis carried the view far beyond the place where they stood.

The château is in Maincy, France, outside Paris. Private hire is arranged around its calendar and the spaces your celebration needs. We coordinate those decisions with the venue, together with the transport, setup and specialist permissions the evening needs. If you’re considering a château for your wedding, our Paris wedding planners can help you choose spaces for the ceremony, dinner and dancing.

The right people and the same plan

With many specialists already booked, we searched internationally to bring the right filmmakers, photographers and creative partners together. Over several long days, we compared proposals and secured availability.

Several partners rearranged schedules to accommodate the celebration. Behind the scenes, the team coordinated piano transport, lighting, artist rehearsals and dining preparations. A detailed lighting plan guided each scene in the Grand Salon, where live performance and projected images shared the same historic room.

Permissions and timing

The drone and fireworks teams worked with us on technical plans, insurance and authorizations. We worked with the prefecture to secure an earlier display window, making use of the remaining evening light. The preparations also included permissions and insurance for the filming drone and the grand piano inside the château.

Friday traffic and road closures complicated the drive out of Paris. The planners kept the drivers, venue and production teams in contact while the couple moved through their day. Every part of the evening depended on people knowing what was happening beyond their own task.

A printer found time for the last detail

Our usual printer could not meet the deadline for the LoveBook. We found another lab in Paris that could. The château, the shows and the cake were coming together; their story had to be there, too.

Your questions

What did this proposal cost?

Jeremiah and Heaven’s celebration had a six-figure budget. A different proposal will have its own venue, creative and production requirements. Chantelle can discuss those with you before preparing an estimate. Our Paris proposal cost guide explains the wider budget.

Can you arrange a proposal on a short timeline?

This celebration was planned in six days. What is possible for another date depends on venue access, specialist availability and the authorizations required. Contact Chantelle as early as you can so the team can assess your plans.

Who will help me plan from abroad?

Chantelle and the Paris-based planning team coordinate the venue and specialist partners in English. Tell them your date, ideas and the decisions you would like help making. See how our proposal planning works.

Earlier that day in Paris

Before the château, five “Be My Guest” invitations had led Heaven through her birthday in Paris, revealing one surprise at a time: a private Seine cruise, lunch at Shangri-La, a macaron-making experience at École Ducasse and time to get ready at the Bulgari. The final card named Vaux-le-Vicomte. A Rolls-Royce was waiting to take her to the ball.
